“Wakeful” is the debut album by Haquin, featuring +18 musicians from Outtallectuals music label and beyond. Composed, refined, and meticulously crafted over 2 years, ‘Wakeful’ is a culmination of deeply personal emotions as they intertwine with the expression of collaborating artists who bring their instrumental, production or vocal expertise to the experience. The album explores the liminal states between wistful and cheerful, defeated and optimistic, focused and wandering, and isolated and connected. Sonically, the album’s genres span an eclectic yet continuous thread along organic downtempo, future garage, deep dubstep, lo-fi and jazzhop, nature-inspired ambient, IDM and world music.

The album’s darker songs, namely the stomping High Dude collaboration, Starless, the psychedelia of ‘Smoke And Mirrors’ with Maynix and Middle Eastern experimental garage of Dark Skies with Three Oscillators & Adam Maalouf, are balanced with more introspectively neutral tones of ‘Day Dream’ with IOM, and onto the more triumphant and resolving tones of ‘Sequence’, ‘Through the Trap Door’ & ‘Glow’.
